In the film John Carter 3D 2012, a Civil War veteran named John Carter is mysteriously transported to Mars, known as Barsoom. There, he discovers he has enhanced strength and agility due to the planet's lower gravity. He is captured by the Tharks, a tribe of green warriors, and becomes embroiled in a planetary conflict between the human-like cities of Helium and Zodanga. Carter allies with the princess of Helium, Dejah Thoris, and the Thark warrior Tars Tarkas. To save Barsoom from destruction, he must unlock the secret of the ancient technology that brought him there and lead a unified army against a sinister, immortal foe.
