Dolphin Tale 3D 2011 follows a dolphin named Winter who loses his tail after being injured. A young boy named Sawyer finds Winter on the beach and helps bring him to the local aquarium under the care of veterinarian Caitlin. Winter survives but the injury leads to amputation of his tail. Caitlin Sawyer and aquarium employees search for ways to help Winter adapt. Dr McGrath develops a prosthetic tail. Winter has difficulty at first but through persistence and support he begins to swim successfully with the device. Winter becomes a symbol of survival and hope for many people. This drama is based on the true story of Winter who lives at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida.
