Step Up 3D 2010 follows Luke who leads a dance crew called the Pirates. He recruits Moose a student at New York University and Natalie a mysterious dancer who never loses. The crew prepares for a world jam competition against the best dancers from around the globe. Moose balances his engineering studies with dance practice while Natalie hides secrets about her past. The Pirates face rival crews in street battles and choreographed showdowns across New York City locations including warehouses and subway stations. Luke must keep his crew together as tensions rise before the final competition that will determine if they can become world champions.
